How to play

  1. Press Play trail. Find Toby and the golden star.
  2. Tap a big arrow to take one step. Go around rocks and trees. You can also tap a neighboring path square or use the keyboard arrow keys.
  3. Reach the star for a trophy! Choose See my trail, then Next trail. Again restarts the current trail. After the first three trails, new random mazes gradually grow from 7 × 7 to 11 × 11. There is no timer.

Skills to practice through play

Directions and position

Connect up, down, left and right with Toby’s steps.

Planning a route

Look ahead for open paths and notice obstacles.

Trying another idea

A blocked step costs nothing. Look again and try another way.

Hand–eye coordination

Choose an arrow and watch where Toby moves.

Apples and magic wall jumps

Collect red and green apples along the way. Both add to your total. Every five apples earns one wall jump. Press the magic wand, then an arrow towards a single wall with a clear path space on the other side. One successful jump uses one charge. A blocked attempt costs nothing; press the wand again to cancel.

Your basket and unused charges carry to the next trail. Again returns Toby to the start without replacing collected apples. Refreshing the page starts a new adventure and clears the basket.

More ways to learn together

Counting and early addition

Count the red and green apples separately, then look at their combined total. Every five apples earns one magic wall jump. Ask how many more are needed for the next one.

Planning and making choices

Decide whether to follow the path or spend a wall jump on a shortcut. Look for a clear space behind the wall before choosing an arrow.

Remembering and noticing

Notice the dots on paths Toby has visited. Look back at explored routes and remember where an apple was spotted.

Flexible thinking

Random trails offer new routes to explore. When a way is blocked, pause and try another idea. There is no time limit or penalty for a blocked step.

A gentle start for your child

Begin with the first trail and take turns pressing the arrows. Later trails grow from 7 × 7 to 11 × 11; a larger tablet screen may make these easier to see. Return to an earlier trail whenever you like. Reaching the star is enough to finish: collecting every apple is optional.

Try it together

“We have two red apples and one green apple. How many altogether?” “Should we save our magic jump or use it here?” “Which way can Toby go?” “Can you point to the star?” Start with trail one and take turns. Use the musical-note button to turn music off or on, Bigger for full screen and Exit to return. Progress lasts for this page session.

These are opportunities to practice through shared play, not an assessment or a guarantee of developmental progress. Children can point, talk, take turns or stop when they wish.
