Try a backyard color safari
Turn a backyard discovery or a neighborhood walk into a playful learning moment. Explore colors, count what you notice, and give your child time to share their ideas.
Explore together
With a grown-up, find something green, something brown, and something yellow outdoors. Point rather than pick. Count how many colors you can spot, then describe where you found each one. Never touch unfamiliar plants or animals.
Keep the story going
Back inside, draw a simple map of your color safari. Let your child choose a starting point for Toby and explain the route using words such as beside, behind, and near.
Try these ideas at home, in preschool, or in kindergarten, adjusting the challenge to your child.

Rooted in early learning.
Ivan Explorer is led by Ms Irina, an Early Years & Montessori Teacher, ELKLAN-qualified practitioner and ELKLAN Tutor, with a special interest in children’s early speech, language and communication.
Her experience shapes adventures that encourage children to listen, talk, think and learn through play. Alongside Ivan and his curious best friend Toby, learning becomes part of the story.

Ivan Explorer – Discovery Kids brings together adventure stories and early learning for children ages 3–7.
Who are Ivan and Toby?
Ivan is our young explorer. Toby the Leopard is his curious best friend. Together, they invite children to look, listen, count, talk and discover the world through play.
What can children learn with Ivan Explorer?
Adventures introduce animals and nature, numbers and counting, colors and shapes, early vocabulary and literacy. They encourage observation, listening, problem-solving and participation.
Who leads the educational approach?
Ms Irina leads Ivan Explorer. She is an Early Years & Montessori Teacher, an ELKLAN-qualified practitioner and an ELKLAN Tutor, with a special interest in early speech, language and communication.
Where can we watch the adventures?
Visit the Ivan Explorer YouTube channel. A parent or caregiver can watch alongside their child, pause to talk and try activities together.
Are printable activities and the app available?
You can play Toby’s puzzle online now. You can also download our free activity book. The Ivan Explorer app is still in development.
